One of the missions of UNAM in Chicago is to disseminate and preserve the Spanish language through specialized language programs.
The increasing presence of Spanish-speaking immigrants across the state has created a demand for assistance in Spanish in housing, healthcare, and educational services.
Since last year, UNAM Chicago has collaborated with different school districts, preparing educators to communicate with immigrant children and their parents in Spanish. This year, the Addison School District 4 located in DuPage County, has approached UNAM Chicago to provide basic Spanish for educators' courses to a total of 26 participants (including elementary teachers, principals, superintendents, and other school staff). These courses will run from January to April.
This new partnership emphasizes the presence of UNAM and its efforts to assist the Hispanic communities in the Midwest.
