One of UNAM's missions in the United States is to create academic opportunities for students in Mexico to practice English and learn about the culture of its speakers. Among its academic programs, UNAM Chicago has established a series of language exchange sessions (Spanish-English) between students from the Northwestern University Physician Assistant Program (NUPA), the University of Illinois Chicago (UIC), and UNAM students from the Medical School, the School of Accounting and Administration International Business Program, and the School of Law.
These free language exchange sessions offer students unique opportunities to practice their target language and learn about different cultures. In this inclusive environment, students can feel comfortable making mistakes and taking risks when using their target language with native speakers from specific professions. This fosters cross-cultural communication and appreciation, enriching the academic experience in their own fields.
