The book "Presencias en la roca: Nuevas miradas al arte rupestre del oriente salvadoreño" by Félix Alejandro Lerma Rodríguez, full-time profesor at the National School of Higher Studies (ENES-UNAM) campus Morelia, was presented at UNAM Chicago. The event, which exceeded all attendance expectations, was enjoyed by several consuls from Central and South America, representatives of community organizations, city authorities, and members of the Salvadoran community residing in this city.
The book was discussed and its publication celebrated by the experienced researchers and academics Claudia Brittenham, professor of Art History at the Faculty of Ancient American Art of the University of Chicago, and Marie Areti Hers, PhD in Art History from the University of Brussels and researcher at the Institute of Aesthetic Research of UNAM.
The work combines research, teaching, and outreach to present a series of considerations about Salvadoran rock art, particularly from the eastern region, and aims to generate interest, reflection, and debate around its possible cultural, historical, and artistic characteristics.
