As part of secretary Juan Ramón de la Fuente’s visit to Chicago on December 18, UNAM Chicago actively participated in the meeting convened by the Consulate General of Mexico with key representatives of the Mexican community.
During the gathering, which brought together nearly fifty attendees, Dr. De la Fuente listened to their concerns and emphasized that, given the challenging circumstances on the horizon in this country, the Mexican Foreign Ministry has a clear strategy in place to support and defend Mexican nationals, ensuring preparedness for any potential contingencies.
For his part, Alberto Foncerrada, the Liaison for Inter-institutional and Cultural Affairs at UNAM Chicago, had the opportunity to present key programs offered in support of the community, including the series “Let’s Talk About Health: Dialogues with UNAM Experts,” developed in partnership with the Consulate and the Faculty of Medicine; the promotion of the online High School program; participation in the Binational Education Week; as well as various cultural activities that we bring to the community.
The forum provided an opportunity to reiterate the university’s commitment to collaborating on any initiative aimed at protecting and promoting the well-being of the Mexican community.
