As part of the Lit & Luz Festival—now in its twelfth edition—renowned artist Magali Lara led a tour at UNAM Chicago through her exhibition De la Misma Habitación (From the Same Room), housed in one of our galleries. She later held a conversation with Sofía Gabriel, executive director of MAKE Literary Productions, and Alivé Piliado, associate curator at the National Museum of Mexican Art—both of whom curated the exhibition together with the artist herself. The exhibition will remain open to the public until December 5.
The day before, Magali took part in a panel titled From Objects to Landscape, and Other Stories, led by art historian Maggie Borowitz at the Logan Center for the Arts at the University of Chicago. The event was the result of a collaboration among UNAM Chicago, the Department of Visual Arts at the University of Chicago, MAKE Literary Productions, and the Poetry and Driehaus foundations.
Both events offered vibrant conversations on art, memory, and creative processes, building bridges across languages, communities, and perspectives.
